Same basic recipe as 102, but slightly less Castor Oil and the colour is entirely different with the Alkanet! More blue than purple. Can anyone tell me what the little white specks are? I do not think they are lye specs. They are very tiny and plentiful... I think it is something to do with the Alkanet.... mixing? The smell of this one is such a nice girly flowery mix that I can't get enough of. This essential oil blend is a keeper! Flowery & Femenine...Flowery Girl

first of all...amazing!!
i think thats the white specks are small pieces of soap that dont attach to the soap. When you buy normal grocery store-soap, the soap os pressed together leaving no specks.
anyway...i hope that my answer is to the question u refered to :)

by the way...unfortunately i have been having some personal problems this week so i couldnt send you my soaps. but i will go next week to post them to you.
The tiny little speckles throughout are most likely due to a small amount of air being whipped into the soap during mixing. If that's what they are then they're totally not harmful or anything to worry about. If they bother you, be careful not to introduce ANY air into the batter when mixing... this is easier said than done, of course.
The alkanet might just turn a redder purpler as the soap cures and becomes less alkaline; you can use it like a built-in pH indicator! It's a beautiful color though!! Very nice :)

I've had white specks happen when my titanium dioxide didn't do what it was supposed to do. Frustrating! Gorgeous batch of soap, by the way!
Thank you! I haven't used titanium dioxide yet, do you use it to make the soaps whiter? Is it "natural"? What else do you use for colour?
