New Shampoo Bar

Shampoo Bars seem to be the thing lately, so many people blogging about them!

I will gladly join in since I LOOOOOOOVE Shampoo bars. As I have previously posted about, they didn't always work for me. But I have developed a base recipe that I love now. This time, using my base shampoo recipe, I experimented with something new.

This latest shampoo creation has Green Clay, Aloe Vera, Nettle Tea, Nettle Infused Olive Oil and Rosemary and Basil Essential Oils.

I also decided to play with shape a little. For my regular soaps, I have a shape and size that I love. But with the shampoo bars, I felt like I wanted something a little more hearty. So I tried cutting them more squarish, chunkier than my regular bars. Here one is on my hand.

I am really liking this one already. How am I ever going to wait 4 weeks to be able to try it on my hair??!!??

  1. I've never used shampoo in solid form. Is it easy to use?

  2. Hi Tina! Shampoo bars are WONDERFUL to use. I love the thick suds I get... and the way they leave my scalp feeling. The only issue is that when you start using them, there may be an adjustment period of a few days/ a week where your hair feels "funky"... getting all that junk out. Then once your hair adjusts, shampoo bars are awesome. Glad to hear from you. LOVING my earings! xo Jen

  3. Oh Jen -you ALWAYS create the best stuff! I'm really excited about trying one of these babies.:) Your photography is FABULOUS, and I like that you did a different shape -that will help clearly identify them as shampoo in the shower! (That's important to those of us who have 8 bars going at once, eh? LOL!) Love the color, too! xo -Becky

  6. YAY! I love shampoo bars. They have changed my life. My hair is very dry and I find shampoo bars to clean well my hair without leaving it stripped. I love the essential oils combination!! I can imagine its smell...hmm

  7. Becky, Thank you! You are sooo right about the differenciating soap size... my thing is that my shampoo bars start wearing away in the middle first, then I have to fold them and stick together... so I though about making them fatter! Glad you like it! I think the colour is a bit from the nettle tea and a lot from the green clay. xo Jen

  8. Cocobong, The oils I use in my base recipe are: Olive, Coconut, Castor, Shea butter, Coco butter and superfatted with Jojoba. I may have to forgo the Jojoba as soon as I run out though as the price is going through the roof. I have not tried a shampoo bar with Argan yet, but I will. Thanks for all your tips about nettle!! xo Jen

  15. Your shampoo bars look great! The color and shape are very nice too. I am waiting to try the stinging nettle I got a few weeks ago. If my soap turns out even half as pretty looking as yours, I'd be on cloud 9. :)

  16. I love the chunkier shape of the shampoo bars. Seems it would fit well in the palm to wash hair. Looks and sounds like a wonderful bar.

  25. I like that you changed the shape of the bars so they'd be easier to use in the shower. It can be such a pain using a shampoo bar that has the wrong shape. These are looking great though, I can't wait to hear how you like it!
