I have had lots of time lately to get caught up on packaging...
Leg update: I walked the 4 blocks from home to the beach and back yesterday afternoon. I sat for a while with my leg in the sea. Oh that Mediterranean healing... bring it on!!!

Good to hear you leg is healing. :) The sea water is known to be healing. My parents were advised by their doctor to walk in the sea water and according to my mom it did help with some of the joint pains (arthritis) she has. It is nice that you could spend your immobile days wrapping up your lovely soaps. I love the packaging!!
Yay! Glad to hear that you're healing. Looks like you were busy with the packaging! Isn't it amazing how much you can get done when you have a nice block of uninterrupted time?! =)

Michelle, (Two blooms) thank you!! The wrap is what we call Oven paper here. Similar to wax paper in Canada but thinner? I am glad I have finally found a packaging that I like. Just time consuming... xo Jen
Coco, My packaging - oven paper, printer cartriges and paper come from shops here in Vera or Garrucha. Olive Oil, Beeswax, Honey, Sea Salt, Orange juice and peels, lemon, Aloe Vera, poppyseeds and more come from here from local suppliers or my garden. The tins & waterresistent sticker paper for my creams, salves, lip balms and scrubs come from England. I order things from Soap Kitchen, Gracefruit and Fresholi, in England. Great supplies, great customer service. i would MUCH prefer to get ALL locally but Spanish suppliers are more expensive and I can't get everything. Hope that helps! xo Jen

Becky (Soap Sister), Things are looking up. Walking little by little, started at the markets again. My work area? You mean my work areas scattered around the house? My main work area is a DISASTER right now as i had a shipment yesterday and just can't seem to find the time to get everything in the house organized! Plus we have guests coming on Friday... so no, my work areas are not usually that organized........ how about yours? xoxo Jen
Jen, HA! Organized? Again I must say "Ha!" -if only. Staying organized, neat & tidy has never veen my strong suit, shall we say. Clean? Yes. Neat? Occasionally ....for about 10 minutes, until I start actually working in there!
Sounda like you're really doing LOTS better! Take it a bit easy my friend, and try not to over-do. 'Can't wait to see the soaps you pour all this pent-up creativity into ...they're going to be some doozies, I just know it! :) ~Becky
Becky, Have been extremely busy with markets now... this is our main month. I have markets 6 nights a week!! In September everything calms down again and I can do some experimenting...

Margaret, I have just found your comment... I do this packaging all myself. I wrap it like a gift, in oven paper (same as i line my moulds with). then I print out the "cigar band" soap label and wrap it around the soap. Creasing is very important. Then I stick the ingredient label on the bottom to hold the cigar band in place. I suggest you try various ideas and you will eventually find one you like!! xo Jen

ReplyDeleteWow I love your packaging! Where/how do you make it? I am a soapmaker and am at a loss as to how I can package my soaps myself. Any advice?
