loving using the soap log splitter dad made for me...
not all easy... when tensing the wire (guitar string) it sometimes breaks...
need to be extra careful about bits getting on the cutting wire...
lining-up the soap slab so that it cuts straight...
my mould produces 4 10-bar soap logs and an extra strip which I use for cutting up and giving out free samples.... but I could do without the extra strip...
so will alter size on the next mould I get made... not sure if it will be for just 40 bars or maybe 50 bars... but it is already rather heavy when full...

It's just fabulous Jen! All of it! I thought guitar wire was really the way to go so I think it's just got a big job to do. Wonder what kind of wire they use on those Tank cutters? I would be so excited about that strip because you can make soap balls!

Holly, Yes, I think the guitar wire is widely used for cutting soap... probably on the tank as well. The breaking issue is actually where is attaches. Not in the middle... so I think it could be improved if my father were closer... Regarding soap balls.... great idea!!! Can you please do a post about them? How do you make them best? I have tried shaving soap, wetting it slightly and rolling. I have seen Patti Flynn pounding/softening soap then rolling. What do you do? Why didn't I think of this already? xo Jen

The log splitter looks lovely and I love that you get an extra slab for samples. I have a mold I can configure in so many different ways and sometimes I purposely leave extra room so I get a long piece for samples. I bet the orange smells divine.

Super neat cutting tool! I love the idea of having a few samples on hand, maybe keep them on you in case you run into potential customers? Never know! =)

Hi Michelle, Maybe you are right! Maybe I should just leave the mould size as it is and keep the extra strip. It does come in very handy for samples and Holly suggests I make soap balls! xo Jen

Donna, Please go ahead and use our ideas! You may even improve it! The one place where the guitar string breaks sometimes, when I am tightening it... is where it joins. When you get the guitar string, you will see there is a metal ring on the end. This fits into a small hole my dad drilled but is the first to snap if tightened to hard... let me know if you find a better way!! xo Jen
