New Natural Colours

I have some old friends visiting from Canada this week and they brought me some fabulous supplies and new Natural Colours!

As you can see from the photo - Stevia Powder for green... Madder Root Powder, which I have never tried yet, Orris Root Powder for fixing scents, and something called Ratanjot for purple? So if any of you have any experience with these four that I mention, please let me know so I can begin experimenting!!

Happy Soap Making!

Hi Jen, look at all these colors! Do you know where your friend got these supplies from? I'd love to get some for myself too!

I've used Rattajot and it's similar to Alkanet in that is fades over time. I got a greyish purple and I used quite a bit but my recipe includes palm oil.

I just made madder root again, haven't even cut it yet (oops must remember that). I love all those that you got. I love experimenting with nature. I have another root in oil to see if I get a different colour.
It's exiting :)

Thanks for the comments all!
Between Friends - As one of the visiting friends comes from Nanaimo, she found this supply out there... http://www.islandartisansupply.ca/. This is where she got the colours. Let me know how it goes! xo Jen

Thanks Jen for the info! Since the shop is located in BC, I think I'll try to find enough soap makers in my area to see if we can do a bulk buy to save on shipping. :)

I haven't tried any of those and can't wait to read about your experiments with them!

I keep a pot of stevia growing yeoar to year, never thought of using it as a colorant. I am looking forward to experiment.

I can't wait to see what you come up with. I have been looking for a natural purple for my Lavender soap.

hola Jen , que suerte tener los colorantes naturales, yo todavía no he encontrado ninguno ,
y me gustaría tener algunos. Estoy cansado de hacer los jabones siempre con los mismo tonos de la naturaleza.Besos.
