New Shampoo Bar
Shampoo Bars seem to be the thing lately, so many people blogging about them!
I will gladly join in since I LOOOOOOOVE Shampoo bars. As I have previously posted about, they didn't always work for me. But I have developed a base recipe that I love now. This time, using my base shampoo recipe, I experimented with something new.
This latest shampoo creation has Green Clay, Aloe Vera, Nettle Tea, Nettle Infused Olive Oil and Rosemary and Basil Essential Oils.
I also decided to play with shape a little. For my regular soaps, I have a shape and size that I love. But with the shampoo bars, I felt like I wanted something a little more hearty. So I tried cutting them more squarish, chunkier than my regular bars. Here one is on my hand.
I am really liking this one already. How am I ever going to wait 4 weeks to be able to try it on my hair??!!??

I've never used shampoo in solid form. Is it easy to use?
Hi Tina! Shampoo bars are WONDERFUL to use. I love the thick suds I get... and the way they leave my scalp feeling. The only issue is that when you start using them, there may be an adjustment period of a few days/ a week where your hair feels "funky"... getting all that junk out. Then once your hair adjusts, shampoo bars are awesome. Glad to hear from you. LOVING my earings! xo Jen
Oh Jen -you ALWAYS create the best stuff! I'm really excited about trying one of these babies.:) Your photography is FABULOUS, and I like that you did a different shape -that will help clearly identify them as shampoo in the shower! (That's important to those of us who have 8 bars going at once, eh? LOL!) Love the color, too! xo -Becky
Hi Jen, lovely looking soap :) Do tell, what oils did you use for your shampoo soap? Glad to see that you are handling the nettles..they do give such a lovely color, don't they?
Hi, Jen! Your shampoo bar looks wonderful! I love the color! I wonder what you use for your shampoo bar.. hmmm.. =)
YAY! I love shampoo bars. They have changed my life. My hair is very dry and I find shampoo bars to clean well my hair without leaving it stripped. I love the essential oils combination!! I can imagine its smell...hmm
Becky, Thank you! You are sooo right about the differenciating soap size... my thing is that my shampoo bars start wearing away in the middle first, then I have to fold them and stick together... so I though about making them fatter! Glad you like it! I think the colour is a bit from the nettle tea and a lot from the green clay. xo Jen
Cocobong, The oils I use in my base recipe are: Olive, Coconut, Castor, Shea butter, Coco butter and superfatted with Jojoba. I may have to forgo the Jojoba as soon as I run out though as the price is going through the roof. I have not tried a shampoo bar with Argan yet, but I will. Thanks for all your tips about nettle!! xo Jen
Soaptician, Thank you! In my two responses above you can see what oils I use and what I have used for colour. I am liking this one so far. No I just need to try it out on my hair!! xo Jen
Amina, I love shampoo bars too! Glad to meet someone else who loves them like I do! Basil Essential Oil smell slightly like liquorice... so the Rosemary Basil combo is strong & sweet. I am liking it so far. xo Jen
I love shampoo bars, haven't used anything else other than 'poo bars and a citric rinse for about 6 months now and my hair just looks and feels so much healthier.
I bet this smells lovely too.
x
Looks lovely and rich! And I love the chunky size. Do you do a citric or vinegar rinse?
Jen, those just scream goooood stuff! So exciting. They are lovely little shampoo bars-like "The Sister" said nice to be able to tell them apart in the shower+they seem like they would be convenient in your hand for shampooing those locks.
I love the new shape and the ingredients you used sound heavenly.
Your shampoo bars look great! The color and shape are very nice too. I am waiting to try the stinging nettle I got a few weeks ago. If my soap turns out even half as pretty looking as yours, I'd be on cloud 9. :)
I love the chunkier shape of the shampoo bars. Seems it would fit well in the palm to wash hair. Looks and sounds like a wonderful bar.
Look great !
The color is great and the texture too.
I bet the smeel is heavenly ....
Sorry I´m late but still wish you with all my heart ´´HAPPY BIRTHDAY !´´

Soap Fairies and Everything in Between, what do you use for your Citric Rinse - Pure Lemon juice? I am using vinegar but I don't like the smell it leaves in my hair. Thank you for your comments! xo Jen
Coco, I use a vinegar rinse but I think I would like to try a Citrus one! xo Jen
Michele, Tierra Verde, Thank you for the encouraging words. I can't wait to try these!! Will let you know how they go.... xo Jen

I like that you changed the shape of the bars so they'd be easier to use in the shower. It can be such a pain using a shampoo bar that has the wrong shape. These are looking great though, I can't wait to hear how you like it!
They look beautiful! I love the shape and color. I also love jojoba oil!
Claudia, Your blog is beautiful! xo Jen
Anne Marie, Thank you so much. I can't wait to try this one. The smell is luring... xo Jen
Milla, Thank you. Jojoba seems to be the oil to use in Shampoo. It is just getting too expensive... xo Jen

How did you cut the soap? The bars look very nice
Anonymous, Wow! This is so long ago... but back them I was cutting with a simple sharp knife!! Thank you! Jen xo
