Green Soap 8 - Nettle 4

I know I said that I was taking a break from green for a while... but after the awesome tip from Cocobong, I just couldn't resist carrying out another experiment and OH MY GOD. I am in love with the green in this shampoo bar. Thank you for the tip! When I made the stong nettle tea this time, I blended up the infused leaves with my hand mixer directly into the tea and used this to make the lye solution.

Can't wait to try it out on my hair!

Next experiment: Part blended/mulched nettle tea and part goat milk.

Looks great, did you use fresh leaves or dried? Let us know if the colour holds.

Thanks for all the comments! Cocobong - your tips WORK! Yay! I will let you all know if the colour holds - the soap I did with Spirulina is already fading. Green tea is holding and the nettle, so far appears to hold as well. Ambra - I purchased Nettle leaf from Gracefruit. It is dried. But of course, it would be even better if collected locally! xo Jen

when available, always work with fresh plant material, dears. it really makes ALL the difference in adding color to your soap

I have been following your experiments with great interest. I love green and I have some nettle just waiting to be used up! Thanks so much for sharing your results.

I am wondering how much fresh nettle (by weight) you are using to water (by weight). I have been loving your experiments. Also, do you have an updated pic of the nettle soaps? This one and the goat's milk one? I'm curious how they are holding up. I *just* harvested the new spring nettle tips from my mom's backyard and I'm going to soap my nettle infused olive oil soap tomorrow!
