2 Orange Soaps

I have done two orange experiments recently, and both have come out nicely.

Orange Experiment 1 has no added colour in it, but it does have grated fresh orange peels, freshly squeezed orange juice and both Sweet and Bitter Orange essential oils. I think the essential oils are what colour this soap a nice light orange... We will see if it lasts.

The second one is much oranger. Basically the same soap, superfatted slightly higher but with a little Annatto powder added to the lye solution and also at trace. You can see slight specs of the powder in the soap. The bigger spots that you can see in the first soap were the orange peels. This time I blended them up more.

Now that I am really liking the look of my Seville Orange soap... I need to find an orange essential oil blend that STICKS and ENTICES. This one is not bad, but slightly sweet from the Geranium... I can't wait to try out the 10-fold Orange Essential Oil I recently ordered!

Next experiment: Turmeric

I like these a lot. The first one is very wholesome looking and the 2nd, is such a beautiful colour. If the scent fades, does the smell get released a little when used under the warm water, the 'delicately scented' line might work xx

Ohh I love the colour of that second one, beautiful Jen. I use the 10 fold and if I can't get it, I use 5 fold and they do stick a lot better. What soap photo tutorial? I really need that! is that a recent post Julia did? or do I need to go back aways?

Really nice. I love the second one! I haven't yet tried Annatto. How much did you use? Does it make yellow lather and does it stain?

They are both so pretty but I love the colour of the second one.

Thanks all for the comments!!
AromaBeauty - check out the Cocobong tutorial called Easy Steps for Better Pics from May 12 2010. It's great.
Heidi - I have tried Annatto before and the lather stays white so no staining, but let me wait until the curing period is finished for this experiment and then I will tell you for sure. My experimental batch has 220grams of oils and I put 1/8 of a teaspoon of annatto powder into the lye, and also 1/8 of a teaspoon at trace. Let me know if you try it and how it goes!
