Wine Soap

I am currently developing some wine soap and skincare products for a local Winery – Bodegas Perfer. Pretty excited! On Saturday, I participated in a trade show at their Winery and I met lots of new people, gave out tons of cards and samples, and made some new clients.

As with all of my soaps, the majority oil is local organic extra-virgin olive oil and this one also has sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil (first time I have soaped with grapeseed oil), shea butter coconut oil and castor oil. I added nothing for colour and I may in future batches.
I am trying to create a great-smelling essential oil blend that has the properties to accompany the properties offered by wine in skincare.
This soap has lavender, frankincense, patchouli, cedarwood and ylang ylang.  Can’t say I am in love with the scent… so I will keep experimenting.
Will be away this weekend for a 3 day hand-made trade fair in Murcia!  Will be our first big trade show and I can’t wait!!
Happy soaping everyone!!!
Xo Jen

Very interesting...what colour wine went into this batch? It will be interesting to see how the colour develops as it cures!

Wow you have really stepped it up big time. We dream of doing a big trade show at some point. Your new project working with wine sounds exciting as well.

Beautiful colour,Jen! I will have to try it someone also!
I use grapeseed oil and I really like it in soaps, especially if this is virgin.
Wish you a lot of good luck and a lot of new clients!
Take care!

All the best for the trade show, Jen! Hmm.. the scent does sound interesting... perhaps Clary Sage EO which is one of my favourites - very grounding and earthy.

Tanya, I used a deep red wine, but not 100%. This was about 60% wine, 40% water. I was nervous how the lye was going to react, so I didn't try 100%, which I will another time. So far the colour is okay, but I think I will be adding some red clay to future batches. Just want to see how the natural colour comes through during the cure! Your blogs look lovely!! And your products. I didn't realize you could you blogspot as a shop!!! xo Jen

Lisa, Thanks for your comment and suggestion.... confession... I have not worked with clary sage yet!!! I can't believe it really as it is one of the greats, and so therapeutic - I know. So I will have to get some now, as it is one of your favourites. No excuse any more. xoxoxo Jen

I have made wine based soaps for a local winery in the past and could never get past the smell (same goes for beer soaps) of the end product. None of the eos combos I've tried worked for me (or the customers)
