Coffee Soap

I love Coffee soap... My husband loves MY Coffee soap (I have to admit he has not tried anyone else’s and let’s just keep it that way!).. This is my first time making coffee soap without Palm oil. I added some Cocoa Butter, Coconut Milk & Coffee Grinds. The strange layering of slightly different colours was an experiment. Part of the soap I coloured at trace with cocoa powder (the darker brown part), the other part is just the colour from using coffee as the liquid. As I had a bunch of stuff I was adding at trace, when I got to the part where I separated the mixture in 2 & added the Cocoa Powder to 1 part, it started hardening fast... so swirling was out! I had to scoop and layer... and between layers, I sprinkled in extra coffee grounds. I kind of like the look. The smell not-so-much... What sort of Essential Oil blend goes nice with coffee? Not the ones I chose this time... Hmmm... any ideas? Previously I just left my coffee soap unscented.

Happy Soaping! Jen

Coffee soap looks divine and I plan to make one soon as well. I usually use a Turkish Mocha fragrance oil that I love. Not sure about EO ideas but maybe cinnamon would be nice or clove. I'm thinking of coffee flavours like almond (bitter almond, I know it's not an EO), mocha (no EO for that one either), mint (maybe Spearmint or Peppermint).

The Turkish Mocha fragrance oil sounds like it would pair fabulously with coffee soap. Good one! As far as essential oils go, my best best would be peppermint.

P.S. Love the lines of coffee grounds between layers. It's a subtle but awesome touch!

I use Sweet Orange EO in one of my coffee soaps and it's very popular. I also do mint coffee but can't remember offhand if it's an EO or an FO. And I have done vanilla coffee but that is with FO.

This looks lovely. I think a citrus/spice EO blend would go nicely - maybe orange & cinnamon?

Beautiful, Jen! Knowing that your prefer eos, I would second Tiggys suggestion. I leave my coffee soap either unscented, adding lost of honey or lanolin to make a sweet scent, or use 10fold orange eo with patchouli and cardamon. Coffee soaps are my hotcake sellers, never have enough of those on hand
best to ya!

Love the soap, Jen. The colours make it quite interesting. I haven't scented my coffee soaps, but I always thought that Vanilla could be good in it.

Your coffee soap looks great Jen! I used patchouli, sweet orange, clove, cinnamon and may chang in mine, I think the spice is a nice touch with coffee soaps but vanilla sounds very nice too.

Cinnamon is a definite winner for coffee soap! Add a bit of 5-fold orange as well. Mmmm.
